online grief support

I found a wonderful site that has chat rooms for people who are grieving a loss of a loved one. I had been going to this site for about a month now but never got up enough guts to chat. But Yesterday was the 3 month anniversary of my husbands death. Between that and Thanksgiving I could not stop sobbing. I was at the end of my rope and feeling totally overwhelmed so I mustered up my strength and chatted. At first I couldn't see the computer screen through my tears but within 15 minutes I felt so much better and not so all alone. This site is called GROWW and the url is www.groww.org they have different rooms that focus on different types of loss such as loss of children, recently widowed, loss to suicide, etc. It really does help to be with others who really know what you are going through. I regret waiting so long to chat but am so grateful that people are willing to share.

wow it's hard to believe it's already been a year! I still am not permanently employeed but have been doing some work through Leddy Group Temp agency. Last week I worked 16 hours and this week only 8. My unemployment has run out but things could always be worse. I refuse to give up or be a gloomy gus.

I want to appoligize to everyone for not posting anything here in so long. I have not really came across any new places to write about. I will try to do better.

I Hope all have a safe and wonderful 4th of July this week end. You will all be in my thoughts

New way to make MONEY

Hello,

Well today is Monday of the Labor Day Weekend, A sure sign that winter is just around the corner. One last hurah to picnic and enjoy family and friends in an "outside" surrounding before being forced indoors by cold winds and fridgid weather. Here in W. Rutland the weather today is beautiful for taking advantage of just that. I do not (at this time) have access to an outdoor arena for such activities as picnicing, so I am making plans for winter activities. Indoor winter activities, that I'm hoping will make me some money too. I came accross a site called "Our Town" recently that looks like it just might provide a nice indoor activity, while making money. It is an online community site that offers you to take over a zip code near you and set up a page that you are editor over. You make money by selling on-line ads to local businesses. Our times shares the revenue from that with you. (40/60). You also would hook up with local churchs, your local school and townhall for all your local news of who's doing what and when. I got very lucky as I was one of the 1st 1000 to sign up my first year is totally FREE. I'm not sure how many more to go before they hit past  1000 but they are pretty new. The Licence fee after that will be $1,000.00 per year. So if you're interested go check it out now and see if you're one of the 1st 1000. If you mention my name I get an extra free month but I'm not too worried about that, I'd rather help someone who might benefit from this.

Well Hope Everyone Is Having a GREAT Labor Day inside or out!

Till Next Time...

Remember, you deserve to be happy!

Free on-line courses from "good" universities

Hello,

I just came accross an incredible bit of information. If you're anything like me you love to learn but just can't afford, or don't have the time to continue with your education. Well I guess a few years back a handful of universities got together and decided to use the internet to offer FREE on-line courses, they call opencourseware. I'm talking Yale and MIT! Thier mission statement is "Universities working together to advance education and empower people worldwide through opencourseware". I checked all four of them out as I am trying to get funding to go for my associates as I am searching for work and everyone wants some sort of college degree nowadays. (It's like a H.S. diploma was in the 90's). They all look great and there is alot (over 2000) of classes offered. The only drawback to it is they do not give any certificates or credits for them, so it won't get you a degree but it will give you knowledge, and for those that havn't been in school for a while, it will give you the feel and get you back in the swing. Hey, I'm pretty sure this is the only way I will ever be able to say I took a few classes at Notre Dame.  Here are the links:

MIT

http://ocw.mit.edu

Yale

Berkeley

http://webcast.berkeley.edu

Notre Dame

I hope some of you will get something from this and till next time remember Knowledge unlocks so many doors.

Keep Smiling!

About AndrewM

Andrew,

I don't know for sure, but I would think if you spoke to the hosp. where your wife gets her dialosis, they can figure out some way for transportation. Every hospital has a social service type person who knows the ins and outs of ways to get help for people in your situation. It will at least be one less thing on your plate to worry about. Here in Vt. if you are disabled they supply transportation to and from Dr. appointments (you have to arrange it in advance) with the local bus. Ct. had a similar program, so if the hospital can't help you (I'm betting they can), try calling the State you live in's medical program (medicare/medicade). Also try calling the Social Security people, they are very helpful and have advocates they will assign to you/your wife if needed. I dealt with something similar with my husband who is disabled and on Social Security. Good Luck to you and your wife.

Hello louise 221,

I'm just wondering if you are familiar with an online writting community called Helium? They have contests and a place where you can compete to be picked up by a magazine for an article. I belong to it as I enjoy writing, I've notice some people there seem to do pretty well for themselves money wise. If you're serious about writing, or just enjoy it you may want to check it out.

www.helium.com

There is also a site called wordclay that helps you get your book published I'm not sure about all the details but it's worth a click to check out.

Good luck to you!!

Learning Resources (FREE)

Hello!

As you know I am currently unemployed. Well... One of the positions I applied for asked me if I knew Quicken. I was familiar with it to the point of knowing its purpose, that it was a financial software program. So, as soon as I got home from that interview, I jumped on-line looking for some sort of free on-line course to teach me the basics (if not more) of Quicken. I searched all my usual places and couldn't find anything that didn't cost. I finally came accross a site that offers free ebooks and lo and behold I am now fully versed in Quicken. Alas I did not get that position, but next time I am asked "Are you familiar with Quicken?" I can answer with confidance, Yes, I'm very comfortable with it. This site is www.ebookee.com You have to search alot but there is alot to be found.

Also one of my favorite FREE learning sites that offers courses in word, excell, powerpoint and many other very usefull topics. (They even offer a certificate at the completion of the course as well as interactive support). I check back often as they are always adding new topics. Is HP. Below is the link to register.

Vermont crafty persons

Hello Once Again.

Today I went to the Labor Dept. here in Vermont and found out about a wonderful resource for crafty Vermonters. It's a program called "Vermont Creates" It is ran by B.R.O.C. They will sell your crafts is a consignment store located on Center St. in Rutland. They do want a percentage to cover thier costs but, I know of alot of very talented people who don't know where to go to get thier crafts out there. I'm not sure you can make alot right off the bat but most people posting in here (like me) can use anything we can get. They have a web site too. www.vermontcreates.com.

B.R.O.C. also has other programs to help Vermonters facing economic challenges. One that I just found out about, (and plan on finding more out) is called Micro-Business Development Program. It's goal is to foster self-employment as a viable option toward self-sufficiency.

They provide education, training and assistance for small business start-up, expansion and management. And they offer counselling to help participants set themselves up for long term success. I will let you know more as I find out more as I've always dreamed of having a small horticulture business or a nice little odds and ends store but didn't know how to go about starting it let alone financeing it. Who knows mabey this is the door to my dreams.

B.R.O.C. Has many programs to assist Vermonters that have come up on hard times. They have a food shelf, can help to keep your utilities from getting shut off, help you sign up for food stamps, and so much more. They offer counciling in repairing and rebuilding your credit, Financial Literacy and many other services. Thier Phone # is 802-775-0878 and they're located at 60 Center St. in Rutland. They are also in Bennington on Orchard Road and that # is 802-447-7515. The People there are very nice and non-judgemental. They can also help with heating, and deposits for the same.

Well I will keep looking for resources and posting as I find them. Till then keep the faith and remember you are not alone, and it WILL get better.

Forever Searching,

Idnic

A Number to get some direction

Well, I am still searching for a job but I do have a line on one. In the mean time life has been very lean. The Gov. Passed a bill extending unemployment benefits in vermont for another 13 weeks. Although mine had run out for over a month they let me sign back up. That really helps alot so if anyone was on unemployment and is still unemployed (in VT) call the unemployment agency and see if you are eligable for the extention. The worst than can happen is they say no.

Also I discovered a resource called 211. It is run by united way and they can give you names and phone numbers of places that might be able to help you. They gave me the Phone #'s of a few food shelves and a place that could help me keep my utilities from getting shut off. I'm not sure if they are only in Vt. but just pick up your phone and dial 211. They even helped me find resources to help with my husbands meds (we lost being insured when I lost my job).

I hope this helps some of you. It beats sitting in a State Office for hours just to find out they can't help you.

Remember... All things pass. Life gets better, then it gets worse, then it gets better, It's always changing. When it's bad, look around you. There is always something good there, you just have to stop worrying and see it. And if you can't find it, read the local news. There is always someone out there who has it worse.

I will keep searching and posting any resources I come across. Till then, keep the faith, it will get better.

I'm so very Rich with things money can't buy.

need loan worse than ever, rents going up again.

Well Thank goodness for the good things in life. I will admit I am lucky when it comes to those......a loving family, beauty all around me, you know things you just can't buy. Got a letter from the property managers today, as of Sept. the rent will be going from $750. amonth to $800.! I can't afford the $750. I moved here going on 6 years ago and the rent was $695. It seems every time something bad happend in my financial life, they raised the rent. It's not worth it 2 bedrooms no yard 6 other apts with "mean" neighbors. I sure could use that loan right now, worse than ever.

So if you are willing to invest your money for 10 years and get a fair return for it plus that warm fuzzy feeling of helping out a fellow human I'd love to hear from you. In the mean time, thanks for letting me b*t#h. Take time to see the good and beautiful all around you...it's there.

About idnic

I finally managed to get my car smiley. I must have put my resume in every business in every town in a 30 mile radius. Unemployment ran out am 3 months behind on rent. Electric and phone shut off notices have arrived. I have 2.53 to my name and 1/4 tank of gas. bald tires (thank God no snow yet) and my car needs to be inspected by end of next month. auto insurance to run out in 1 week. But I am NOT gonna give up! I am determined to make things work. on the positive side I did get my car back. I signed up at school for the next semester which begins in January. I made all classes be online so I don't have to worry about my schedual when I get a job. It is so discouraging not getting hired. Any one out there need online work done? Oh well. Pray for me please.

Wow how quickly life can change... I am now a 51 year old student who has been widowed for 2 weeks. I thought life was hard then it's worse now. Just as the light was coming into view at the end of the tunnel there was a landslide shutting off the end.

My husband of almost 35 years got sick and died in less than 2 weeks leaving me in debt, in the country with a car in the shop, no income, ane worse of all alone. My best friend is gone, no one to ask advice or even get those it will be alright hugs.

There are no programs to help widows under the age of 60 who have no minor children., except a one time death payment of $255. I had to give that to my landlord toward the 2 months back rent we owed. I need a long term loan of approx $5000. That would get my car out so I could find a job, catch up my rent, electric and phone, and at least allow me to grieve a bit then attemp to find a job. As it is I took this semester off but it is not looking like I will be able to return to college.

I could pay the loan back at $25 per week and am willing to pay interest, so if anyone knows anyone willing to invest in a long term loan. PLEASE let me know.

I did find a job that lasted 11 months before I got laid off. got a pell grant and went to college to become an accountant was doing very well and going to recieve my Associates in Science in aug of 2012 until my sweet John passed away. Now everything is uncertain.

This was the old me

I am an unemployed 47 year old woman who's company moved out of state in Dec. My unemployment ran out 2 weeks ago and I am rapidly sinking in my pool of debt. I did have an interview last Fri. but won't hear anything till July 16th or so. There's not much work in this area of Vt. I made my first visit to a food shelf  the other day, and made a mental note that as soon as I get back on my feet, to make monthly donations to them (instead of just the food drive times). I've been married to the same wonderful man for 30 years and have raised 3 great kids. Thank God for my husbands disability check! It is only 100.00 more than my rent, but it's is better than nothing.

I found a house in need of repairs (we could live there while repairing), If I could find just 40,000.00 We could actually live on my husbands money, pay back that 40,000.00 in 10 years with a 8,000.00 profit and be able to pull ourselves up. This would all be without getting a job, which I intend on getting one, so all would be excellerated. I would still give the person the 8,000.00 profit just for taking a chance on me with their investment. Our credit is screwed, but my husbands check is gaurenteed monthly by the U.S. government. If anyone is able and interested give me a shout and we can talk the details. We would want it all done legally to protect both you and us.
